SEAT Hiring Workers for Audi Q3 Production
The deal will see 1,200 unemployed people being trained, as well as 700 workers being hired, as SEAT is aiming to increase its workforce in order to manufacture the Q3. The project debuts this spring and, according to the company, more trainees that have successfully completed the training program could be hired in the future.
“The agreement brings together two of the overarching principles of the Catalan government – job creation and employability of people through training and skills development. Training is fundamental in order to improve company competitiveness and our economy, and is crucial for people to be able to opt for job positions with a guarantee of success.”
The Minister also thanked SEAT and the Volkswagen Group yet again for “their commitment to Catalonia with production of the Audi Q3 at Martorell” and expressed his wish that the project “be crowned with success,” said F. Xavier Mena, the Catalan government’s Minister for Business and Employment.
The training agreement is included in the Forma i Contracta (Train and Hire) program run by the SOC (Catalan Employment Service), with the program covering the entire cost of the training in exchange for a company’s commitment to hire at least 60 percent of the trainees which complete the course in a maximum time of six months.
