Scirocco and Passat CC Get BlueMotion Technology

SciroccoPassat
In its quest to market conventional cars that remain easy to drive and service but offer greater fuel economy and emissions than before, Volkswagen has introduced its BlueMotion technology to the Scirocco and Passat CC range. These are the cleanest and most fuel efficient versions of the Scirocco and Passat CC yet produced.

Let’s start with the Scirocco, which now offers BlueMotion Technology modifications including Stop/Start and battery regeneration systems to help create a cleaner and more fuel efficient model. Available on entry-level Scirocco, the 2.0-liter 140 hp diesel engine, the system offers slightly different figures, depending on weather you go for a manual gearbox or a six-speed DSG one. Fuel economy is improved from 55.4 mpg to 62.8 mpg (5.09 to 4.49 liters per 100 km) on the combined cycle for the manual, while the DSG does 57.6 compared to the 51.4 mpg (4.9 to 5.49 liters per 100 km) it achieved before.

Emissions have also been lowered for the Scirocco BlueMotion from 134 g/km to 118 g/km (145 to 129 DSG), thus dropping two tax brackets in the UK. Volkswagen also introduced the system to the 2.0-liter TDI 170 hp on the Scirocco GT, thus achieving a fuel economy figure of 55.4 mpg, compared to the standard 53.3 mpg (5.09 compared to 5.24 liters per 100 km).

Just like the Scirocco, the Passat CC benefits from regenerative braking and Start/Stop systems that have been added to the four-door coupe for the first time. In BlueMotion form, the 2.0-liter TDI 140 hp Passat CC models achieve a combined 60.1 mpg, up from 50.4 mpg (4.7 down from 5.64 liters per 100 km), and CO2 emissions of just 125 g/km, down from 146 g/km. Revisions to the 170 hp TDI unit give it economy figures of 57.6 mpg (4.95 liters per 100 km) and CO2 emissions of 129 g/km.

Both the Scirocco and Passat CC BlueMotion Technology models are available to order at Volkswagen dealers across Britain.
