Scion has used the show floor of the Cobo center in Detroit to unveil the Scion Racing/GReddy FR-S race car during a press conference at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. The FR-S will be competing in the 2012 Formula DRIFT series with experience drifter Ken Gushi behind the wheel.
The name “FR-S” stands for Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport, so it’s only natural that it be turned into a Formul DRIFT car, but the fact that Scion says it packs 600 horsepower means we’re more than impressed.

Not much else is known about the drift car, other than the fact that it was born as a result of the collaboration between Scion Racing and GReddy, a well known racing partner of Toyota’s, who has already come up with a custom road-legal exhaust for the FR-S if we’re not mistaken. The drifter has been lowered, stripped out and fitted with a huge wing and body kit. We found it quite interesting that the exhaust is missing on the car, which means it might still be under development.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
