It’s special-edition-time again for Scion trying to boost sales with a new limited FR-S Release Series 1.0, which got revealed at the New York International Auto Show. It's around $4,000 more than the standard car and it's on sale now.
Only 1,500 FR-S Release Series 1.0 units will be on sale, all coming with a special coat of Yuzu exterior paint and a handful of Toyota Racing Development (TRD) parts.

The exterior gets custom-designed bumpers, a rear air diffuser, quad chrome exhaust tips, rear lip spoiler and side fender garnishes. HID headlamps with LED daytime running lights are also offered as standard.

Hop on board and you’ll see a TRD steering wheel and shift knob, TRD logo cargo mat, black seats with T-pattern as well as the Smart Key with Push Button Start feature.

The only mechanical addition is a set of TRD lowering springs which tighten’s up the car’s agility. Power comes from the same ol’ 2-liter flat-four engine good for 200 hp and mated to either a manual or automatic six-speed gearbox shafted to a limited slip differential at the back.

The manufacturer’s suggested price for the FR-S Release Series is set at $29,990 for the manual and $31,090 for the automatic version, minus the delivery, processing and handling fee of $770.
