California-based musclecar modifier and sportscar manufacturer Saleen Automotive has confirmed plans to introduce an all-electric vehicle in the future, with a scale model of the project to be unveiled in early 2014.
Not actual details have been revealed, but Steve Saleen said the EV will be "unlike anything currently in the market place. Throw out your pre-conveived notions and expectations. This vehicle will be revolutionary in its aesthetics and mechanics."
"We intend to enter this market with an offering that is truly innovative and offers the styling and craftsmanship associated with the Saleen Automotive brand. The rapid pace of advancements in electric vehicle technology makes our entry into this market sector timely and should expedite completion of this project," he added.
If all of the above turns out to be true and that vehicle hits the production line, we will have something spectacular on our hands. Although Saleen isn't the first company to promise big and deliver very little or none, we'll give the American company some credit. But whatever you do, Steve, don't stop making Mustangs!
