SAIC Opening MG Factory in Thailand
China’s automotive conglomerate SAIC owns both MG and the Roewe brand. It wants to set up shop outside China and launch cars that are more competitively priced in the ASEAN market. The automaker has thus decided to open a factory in the growing Thailand market which will produce about 50,000 cars a year starting in 2014.
According to Autonews China, this is all part o a massive investment that will eventually see Thai production rising to 200,000 units a year. Could these cars be imported to Europe, or are they really going to build the MG3 in Britain?
We don't know, but we thing a sedan and crossover version are coming as well, though the global project might be a bit too ambitious.
