A different culture dominates the aspects of tuning in the Land of the Rising Sun, but this highly modified Toyota HiAce people carrier borrows a few styling cues straight from Sant'Agata Bolognese's best.
Pay no mind to Japanese customization subcultures such as Bosozoku or Dekotora. Forget that there's an import racing scene going on in the United States. You simply aren't prepared to take in what the peeps from S.A.D Custom Japan call the Stinger 200HIACE, a bizarrely intriguing take on the otherwise cheap and cheerful Toyota HiAce light commercial vehicle.
The current-gen Toyota HiAce may be 11 years old, but sales are still going strong thanks to the space it offers, the available body styles, and competitive pricing. Based on a 2WD HiAce Van in GL guise, S.A.D Custom Japan enhanced this workhorse with roughly $4,000 worth of custom bits and bobs. The most obvious addition is the aggressive front fascia, especially the Lamborghini-inspired visual identity.
The LED daylight running lights kit, rear roof spoiler and smoked taillights are mere details next to the outlandish look up front and the optional forged wheels and low profile rubber. A detail that made us raise an eyebrow or two is represented by the quad exhaust pipes, which are wrapped in a fire-proof material that mimicks the look of carbon fiber for reasons we find really hard to comprehend. Yep, the 2-liter 1TR-FE or 2.7-liter 2TR-FE gasoline-fed engines would've been better suited for this type of visual treatment, but still, what a soul-stirring creation.
