Saab Considering 9-5 Coupe Combi Model

The new Saab 9-5 is a vehicle that carries a heavy burden on its fenders. The car must register a good sales volume in order to offer a good start to the fresh Saab and also inspire a new generation of Saab enthusiasts, so that the brand’s spirit is kept alive.

The vehicle promises to offer an interesting alternative to its German competitors, also clearly stating its premium intentions. The sedan model, which has already hit the market, will be joined by an estate model in the future. However, it seems that the Swedish automotive producer could also be considering adding a third model to the 9-5 range, in the form of a CC (Combi Coupe) version, as Autointernationaal reports.

The 9-5 Coupe Combi, which would bring back the five-door Saab 900 model from 1978, would be a niche product, seeking to bring an additional type of customers to the company. The Saab 9-5 CC would have to fight against recently-launched models like the BMW 5 Series GT and the Audi A5 sportback.

If it will ever see the green light, the Saab 9-5 Combi Coupe won’t join the Sedan and the Station Wagon versions sooner than 2013 and 2014, so we will have to wait a while before we get to see the interesting shape of the rear end.

We’re not sure if this is the direction that a “new” company like Saab should follow, but time will tell.
