The US importer of Royal Enfield motorcycles in the United States, Classic Motorworks, Ltd reports a whopping increase in sales figures for the first quarter of 2014 compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to Classic Motorworks, the number of Royal Enfield motorcycles sold in the US in the first 3 months of 2014 is approximately double that of the bikes moved in Q1 2013. The success of the Indian brand is attributed to the launch of the new Continental GT machines, but the price realignment Royal Enfield has recently enforced is said to have had a major role in attracting more customers, as well.
At the same time, increased, sustained marketing efforts backed Royal Enfield’s offer. All these, coupled with the growing small-displacement and middleweight bikes market, have helped the Indian maker reach an unprecedented level in the development of its US operations. Plus, café-racers and retro-styled motorcycles seem to be once more highly fashionable, thus helping Royal Enfield sell more units.
The new Continental GT will be launched on May 19 in Los Angeles, California at the Smog Shoppe, during a special even with will also have Siddhartha Lal, Royal Enfield CEO as a prized guest, dealernews reports. Finally, to add even more weight to the new direction Royal Enfield is taking with its recent models, a new logo, accompanied by a new crest and monogram have surfaced, helping breath freshness into this iconic motorcycle brand.
However, customer voices say that Royal Enfield should also introduce more modern technology in their bikes, while retaining the retro looks, possibly v-twin engines. The recently-shipping Harley-Davidson Street 750 and especially its smaller sibling, the Street 500 will surely give Enfield a hard time when it comes to new customers.
