Word has it Rolls-Royce could expand its lineup with a couple of new models in the future, as Mercedes-Benz plans to challenge British manufacturer with a new S-Class-based luxury vehicle.
According to Automotive News, Rolls-Royce may be forced to consider new segments and develop a coupe-styled SUV to rival with Bentley’s upcoming crossover and even a shooting brake-like model similar to the Ferrari FF. Even though it sounds far fetched, our source claims that BMW’s refusal to offer a vehicle above the 7 Series could allow Rolls-Royce to fill in the gap.
As far as the current lineup is concerned, the Ghost will reportedly get a refresh in 2014, while the brand new Wraith will become available as a convertible starting 2015. Also, the next-gen Phantom is expected to share platform with the BMW 7 Series and become lighter thanks to extensive carbon fiber and aluminum use.
