Those who want to experience the feeling one gets in the saddle of a MotoGP bike will have a great opportunity to do so later this summer, as Riders for Health will bring the Ducati Desmosedici Two Seater at Silverstone.
August will be a very busy month for those involved in Grand Prix racing, with no less than three racing weekends. However, the last August weekend is a special one at Silverstone, as the former MotoGP racer Randy Mamola and Ducati test rider Franco Battaini will take willing, daring passengers for a ride around the circuit.

Getting in the backseat of the Desmosedici Two Seater is of course a matter of paying a fee and complying with certain requirements. The fee is so far unknown, but those who feel like going "MotoGP pillion" can always get more details from Riders for Health's Martyn Cook by calling +44 (0)1604 889 574 or dropping him a line at [email protected].

Age, height, weight and physical condition rules apply for the charitable ride

Like always, all the funds will go to MotoGP's Riders for Health charity organization that supplies motorcycles and maintenance for health workers in African countries.

The number of rides is limited at Silverstone, so those who fancy such an experience would better book theirs fast. This is a very rare chance to be a part of the British GP this year, as the rides will take place on the practice Friday and on the racing Sunday, in front of the crowds. Riders may expect mind-boggling acceleration, knee-down turns and stoppies.

Like all the Ducati Two Seaters used on previous similar occasions, the one that will be present at Silverstone has thoroughly modified suspensions and rear subframe to accommodate the extra weight. Stronger springs with greater compression braking and higher preload are used, alongside handles on the tank.

Riders "must undergo and pass a full medical check prior to their ride. Passengers must not exceed 90 kilos (14 stone), and be no taller than 1.90m. Participants must be over 18, and the maximum age is 60," Riders for Health rules say. Now, check your funds for the end of August and remember that each passenger will "receive access to the MotoGP paddock for the day and lunch in Ducati hospitality."

As for the thrills, if supermodel Eva Herzigova can do this, you should be alright, too.
