Bidding for a car you’ve dreamed of is exciting itself, but knowing that The King himself designed it, now that is pure petrolhead delight. The best part is, this Petty Blue 2015 Ford Mustang could be yours. You just need to be present when the time comes and make sure your call will be the highest.
With its distinct Petty Blue coloring, this Petty-s Garage-built, 2015 Ford Mustang GT will roll onto Mecum Auction’s red carpet and cross the auction block at the Dallas auction this September 16-19. But there’s more to it than just The King’s touch, mind you.

First of all, you’ll want to know all the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Paralyzed Veterans Association. Secondly, Richard Petty himself will be there to handle you the keys. How cool is that, right? I mean the man is a legend.

The King won the NASCAR Championship seven times which means he stands next to Dale Earnhardt, who is the only other driver to accomplish this feat. We’re talking about an impressive 200 races won throughout his career, with a stunning seven-time record at the Daytona 500. Statistically, he is the most accomplished driver in the history of the sport. More recently, Petty keeps himself busy customizing cars at his co-owned Richard Petty Motorsports shop, which is also the place where this muscle car got its upgrade.

“It’s important to me that we really support Paralyzed Veterans of America and those who fought for our freedom,” said Petty in a press release recently. “We have specially built this Ford Mustang in my garage to take out to the Mecum Auction. It has all the performance upgrades you need including over 600 base horsepower and much more. The seats even match my cowboy boots! It’s truly a special piece and one that I hope to see raise a lot of money for the cause.

As we said, the auction kicks off September 16 and will run through September 19 in Dallas at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. The 2015 Petty’s Garage Mustang GT will go under the hammer the last day.
