Richard Hammond is renown for being one of the hosts that made Top Gear UK famous worldwide. But his latest installment on UK’s national television, BBC, is rather about weather and nature’s extreme conditions. Called Wild Weather with Richard Hammond, it’s a three part series that follows the TV host exploring weather in a way “that’s never been done before”.
Top Gear’s presenters are not just mad about cars and anything that drives on wheels, but they are also great adventurers that simply need to explore and reveal what this planet has to discover. Richard Hammond is probably the one closest to science, nature and history, as his latest installment is far from being the first of the kind.
He presented “Richard Hammond and the Holy Grail” in 2006, “Richard Hammond’s Engineering Connections” on the National Geographic Channel and “Richard Hammond’s Blast Lab” aired on BBC Two and CBBC. The list could go on with the British TV star being part of several writing projects as well.
The latest science documentary you probably heard of is the fourteen part series on National Geographic Channel titled “Science Of Stupid” which focused on the application of physics in everyday life.
Getting back to BBC’s new series, the first episode was shown Monday night in the UK and it will probably be available worldwide pretty soon. Fans can see the 44-year old TV star investigating how wind starts, working a shift at the Heinz baked beans plant. He visits the famous wind spot atop Mount Washington, a place known to withstand hurricane-force winds about 100 days a year.
Hammond also steps inside an artificial tornado at the Wind EEE Research Institute in Canada and eventually ends his trip in Australia where he creates a spectacular fire whirlwind. We don’t know about you guys, but we can’t wait to watch the new series.
