Rich Chinese Teenagers Driving Supercars Have Their Own Car Meets in California

The Californian car scene is one of the strongest, with tons and tons of cool metal driving around. However, these wealthy Chinese teenagers have their own world, as showcased in the adjacent short documentary that comes from Vocativ.

We have to remember the communist Chinese authorities are not exactly the kind who appreciate sharing, so, in order to prevent their parents from getting into trouble, the youngsters do brag about the lavish rides, but do this among themselves.

The documentary takes us to a nighttime car meet in San Gabriel Valley, where the Chinese teens, boys and girls alike, show off their rides. Not necessarily surprising, nobody seem to care too much about the passion invested in the cars. For instance, one boy explains he chose a Ferrari California because he... studies in California.

There are 235,000 youngsters from Mainland China who attend US high schools and universities and this is where you see those coming from the wealthiest families. Their rides? Bentleys, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, all the mainstream supercar and luxury car producers are here. Of course, the tuning needs are also catered for, but don’t expect things to go much deeper than wraps or perhaps a body kit.

Since most of these machines are a pain to drive on a daily basis, the teens use other rides for going to school. Yep, Audis are a rather good example here.

Fortunately, the South Californian car scene goes far beyond this

The South Californian car scene is flooded with people who actually care about the driving part. Given the different budget and preferences, you end up with a great diversity of car meets.

From the various flavors of JDM meets to the exotics at Cars and Coffee in Orange County, there’s something for every taste. Then there are the awesome driving roads in Southern Cali, routes such as Angeles Crest Highway, Glendora Mountain Road, Turnbull Canyon, Azusa Canyon, Mount Wilson and others.

There’s just one complaint we have to make - all those people walking around Hollywood dressed as superheros miss out on the four-wheeled action. For instance, we’ve seen plenty of Batman guys, but none had a Batmobile.
