Revelo LIFEbike Re-Thinks Electric Mobility [Photo Gallery][Video]
Given the integration of the pedals in the front hub, Henry managed to shorten the frame and eliminate the chain drive, thus making the LIFEbike as heavy as a casual bicycle: 15 kg (33 lbs). The 36V lithium battery can store 10 Ah and this is enough for 30 km (19 miles) of all-electric riding; using the pedals will increase the range, of course.
The battery needs 4 hours to go from 0 to 100%, and the pedals can fold so they serve as footrests on a motorbike or scooter. Given the short wheelbase, it's obvious how nimble the Revelo LIFEbike is, allowing riders to squeeze through the busy traffic with great ease.
Handlebars can be lowered and the pedals tucked away, so the bike only needs very small space for storage, and thanks to its lightweight construction, it can also be easily carried on the stairs to your office.
Henry Chong's LIFEbike is up for funding on Indiegogo, and the pledge price for one is $1,800 (€1,395). It may seem a high price to some, but with 19 miles at 15.5 mph (25km/h) for 5 cents, the math is quite easy: it's a great bike, if you ride daily! Via Gizmodo.
