Repsol Honda announces that the partnership with Red Bull will be increased, as a new, extended deal was signed for the next two seasons. Honda riders have been involved with Red Bull for 9 years, with Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa inking their first contracts with the Austrian energy drink manufacturer in 2006.
However, things have been taken to the next level this time, as the deals went up from a personal (rider) level to a new stage where the whole team is involved. This means that the Red Bull logo will be present for the first time on the livery of the HRC motorcycles the reigning world champion Marc Marquez and his team mate Dani Pedrosa are riding. A better exposure on the riders’ leathers is also expected.

Honda and Red Bull agreed that the latter will be the Official Energy Drink partner of Repsol Honda for the next two years, until the end of the 2016 season. Expanding the deal from the rider level to the team level comes as a natural evolution, especially as the two riders have also extended their contracts with HRC to the end of 2016, as well.

According to motogp.com, “since the collaboration began the Repsol Honda Team and Red Bull have celebrated a total of 58 wins, 172 podiums, 63 pole positions, 73 fastest laps, three rider’s World Championships and four Constructor’s Championships.”

Red Bull seems to expand its presence in the MotoGP. Three of the 18 rounds in the 2014 calendar have Red Bull as the main sponsor (Circuit of the Americas, Argentina and Indianapolis), while its direct competitor Monster only patrons two (France and Catalunya). Even more, after Red Bull bought the old Österreichring circuit and revamped it completely and turned it into the new, modern Red Bull Ring, rumors about an Austrian round back into the MotoGP calendar started circulating.

Repsol Honda is currently dominating the 2014 standings, with Marquez and Pedrosa in the first and second position. The next round is the Indianapolis one, 8-10 August.
