Rendering: 2016 Skoda Superb Combi

The Superb 3 is arguably the most technologically advanced car Skoda has ever built, available with more powerful engines, better technology and impressive cabin space. However, there's still one thing missing, isn't there?

We're willing to bet that a fair chunk of the current Superb 2 owners are not going to trade in their cars until there's an estate version available, which probably isn't going to happen until early next year.

To help them visualize what's going to be shown, we're sharing these rendered images made by Hungarian graphics manipulator X-Tomi. They should give you an idea of what to expect in terms of boot design, which let's face it is very important.

The taillights will undoubtedly continue to offer this C-shaped LED strips, while the rest of the bodywork will be a combination of flat surfaces and straight lines. Of course, we're not 100% convinced that the Superb 3 will be as well received as the Mk2 model, especially since it looks like a Passat from some angles. But the extra cargo space and the much better engine range will make eventually trading in a no-brainer.

The range of models available will start with a 125 PS version of the 1.4 TSI and will go all the way up to a 280 PS 2.0 TSI fitted with all-wheel drive and capable of impressive acceleration. But the Superb Combi is mainly used by family men and salesmen who travel longer distances, so the bulk of sales will come from the 150 PS and 190 PS diesels, one of which will have a GreenLine setup available, capable of around 3.7 l/100km combined.

Considering Mercedes-Benz still uses the old 2.1-liter in the C-Class Touring, Skoda is doing a pretty impressive job.
