Renault to Improve Megane to Defend Against German Rivals
Now, though the French manufacturer is feeling the strain, as VW has launched the new and very capable and upmarket Mk VII Golf, as well as a slew of other models from the premium German carmakers. According to Renault’s exterior design chief, Anthony Lo, the Megane will “not change too radically”. Furthermore, Lo said that the car would not grow, as it would affect the car in a negative way (more weight, less aerodynamic efficiency).
Also, the Megane needs to convey a improved feeling of ‘perceived quality’, especially inside where while it may be a very good place to be, with great materials and decent design, the interior of the current car is well behind most other rivals. Renault also say that they need to make their cars more ‘French’, a great idea, but it`s interesting to see how well they will adhere to it.
