You see, this pocket rocket has been designed for the Latin market and won't be sold anywhere else. But it's the fans of the Dacia brand that have been demanding it ever since Renault bought the brand all those years ago.

So, what's this souped up Sandero got under the bonnet? A 2-liter naturally aspirated engine that develops 145 horsepower. That might not sound that much in this age of 300 horsepower Golfs, but we still remember the days when the Fiesta ST had the same type of lump under its bonnet.

The 2L mill is linked to a six-speed manual gearbox and has specially developed ESC with sports tuning, new suspension settings, steering and a brake system with discs all around.

If this were a Dacia model it would be the fastest ever built. Unfortunately, full specs won't be announced until early 2016. But we expect 0 to 100 km/h in around 7.5 seconds and a top speed of around 220 km/h.

A few corners have been cut in the interior department, where the steering wheel doesn't quite appear flat-bottomed and the gear shifter is too low. But everything looks sportier than on a regular Sandero and that's all that counts.

"The new models that Renault is showing today herald a new era, in which products are designed and built in Latin America for Latin Americans. This is the case of the new Renault Sandero R.S. 2.0, which combines the fundamental components of pleasure and passion as seen by Renault Sport. It delivers an exciting driving experience and a sporty ambience," said Olivier Murguet, Commercial Director of the Americas Region.
