Because hardly anybody ever bought one , we have to start this story by explaining what the Renault Megane GT 220 Estate is. You see, even before VW started testing the Golf R Estate, the French at Renaultsport got ahold of a wagon. They weren't allowed to built an RS model and instead an intermediary model was developed, the GT 220.
It features the same sort of 2.0-liter turbo as the Megane RS hot hatch, but it's been tuned to produce just 220 hp, still the most powerful engine ever fitted to a normal Megane.
Now, a French tuning company has taken the GT 220 to the next level of performance. A chip tuning program developed by Shiftech Engineering has increased the output of the 2-liter turbo form 220 hp to 303 hp. Toque is also up from 340 Nm to 468 Nm. A hot estate with more power than the Megane RS is our definition of a sleeper.
Even though it's stock, we really like the look of this French wagon. The Glacier White paint works well with back 18-inch alloys wheel and sports chassis setting, new GT-design front and rear bumpers and tinted headlights.
Renault still makes the GT Line for the Megane Estate, even after the 2014 facelift. It looks a lot better than this model, but you can't get the 2-liter turbo petrol engine, which is a real shame.
