Similar to other top players of the industry, Renault is looking to expand its operations into China and will do so with the help of Laguna Coupe and Clio. China Car Times writes that both models will be officially introduced in China next month at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Official details, specifications and pricing for the Chinese market are yet to be disclosed.

The aforementioned source notes that the Laguna is currently available in China with a 2.0T engine and comes with a price tag of 290,000rmb (this is around $42,500). The Coupe version might go somewhere in the 350,000rmb price range (approximately $51,250) while Clio is expected to cost 150,000rmb ($22,000).

Back in September, Renault said it wants to launch five new models in China in 2010 and is also considering the possibility to start local production with the help of its Chinese joint ventures. The five models to be launched next year in the country are the Clio, the two Scenic versions, Megane Sedan and Megane Hatchback.

"China has become Renault's fastest-growing and most profitable market in the world," Robert Chan, president of Renault's Greater China division, said earlier this year.

Renault is also studying the possibility to bring electric cars in China in the future as the company signed an agreement earlier this year with local authorities to support the expansion of the zero-emission mobility.

The first electric vehicles made by the Renault-Nissan Alliance will arrive in China in early 2011, while in 2012 Nissan and Renault will mass-market electric vehicles globally.
