Another rumor that proved to be true: Renault will revive the Gordini nameplate and will create an entirely new range of cars to be fitted with several sporty accessories. The French manufacturer announced yesterday that the first Gordini model, the Twingo Gordini RS, will be revealed this month on November 25th at L'Atelier Renault on Champs Elysees in Paris, with sales to commence next spring.

The Clio Gordini RS will go on sale a few months later. The Megane will be the third model in the Gordini lineup but the company hasn't released specific details on these two cars.

"The revelation of Gordini RS, Twingo vehicles will take place at the Renault atelier on the Champs Elysées during the Blue Christmas operation. All of the details will be given to you then but I can tell you now that they will be extremely attractive,"
Eric Zuber, Head of Brand marketing and Brand promotion, said in a statement.

The Gordini badge will also be available in several other European countries beside France, but international launches are yet to be disclosed by Renault.

"We are clearly taking an international approach. Remember that Gordini was a symbol of success in other countries, too. When competing against English, German and Italian brands, Gordini has international recognition beyond French borders,"
Eric Zuber added.

Asked whether the French manufacturer is also considering launching an electric Gordini in the future, the Renault official refused to comment and said that more information will be provided at a later date as the parent company starts its zero-emission launches.

"Our priority is to make the Z.E. (zero emission) electric range (Twizy, Fluence, Kangoo, Zoe) a success. Let's talk about this again in 2012 when the full range of electric vehicles has been launched."
