Following the launch of the Renault Fluence ZE, now it’s Samsung’s turn to showcase their version of the car (the orignal version, in fact), the SM3 ZE. We always noticed that the Fluence ZE had an extremely ugly front grille, and that’s due to it being changed for the sake of being different to the SM3’s - sadly, they have made stick out like a sore thumb on what is otherwise a decent looking car. The rear is also slightly different, but not as strikingly different as the front - it isn’t any harder on the eye than the Fluence is.
Along with its improved frontal styling, the SM3 also benefits from a battery pack of slightly larger capacity, with 24kWh (2kWh more than the European car). Aside from that, it’s identical to the Fluence in its performance, range and efficiency, with the 95hp electric motor being capable of 135 km/h (85mph) and maximum claimed range of 182km (113miles). A feature that isn’t present on all Renault models, but is on all Samsung cars, is the “Quick Drop” system, which allows the car’s entire battery pack to be swapped in around 5 minutes.

Despite not having any pricing information, with the car being so similar to the Renault, pricing should be pretty much identical. Still, we wonder where those extra 2kWh of power go, as the figures released for the SM3 ZE are identical to those of the Fluence, both in terms of performance and range.
