Renault CAPTUR Concept Is Poetry in Motion [Video]
“CAPTUR is a fun and sporty crossover, ideal for a young couple about to discover the world” explains director of design, Laurens Van den Acker. “It takes as its basis the fundamental design language introduced on the DeZir concept car but adds a more technical dimension – more functional but still highly sensuous," describes Axel Breun, director of concept cars for Renault.
The interior features fluorescent highlights that provide a constant stream of light. The aluminum pedals, carbon bucket-style front seats and steering wheel trimmed in grey textured leather reassert the sporty feel of the design. "My main sources of inspiration were the human body, outdoor sports and urban styling. I wanted CAPTUR to radiate warmth and dynamism," explains the color and trim designer, Kana Watanabe.
Renault says this concept car is not all show and no go, as it comes with a dCi twin turbo engine that develops 160 hp (118 kW) and 380 Nm of torque, while also keeping emissions low at only 99 grams of CO2 per kilometer. It’s not sluggish either, as it accelerates from 0 to 100 Km/h (62 mph) in 8.0 seconds and hit a top speed of 210 Km/h (130 mph).
