Just in case you were wondering if Hyundai still has its design mojo, take a long, hard look at the Genesis sedan. It's sleek, a sharp dresser which admittedly has a very German vibe about it. We like the recent design direction undertaken by the Koreans, right down to the smallest models. But don't just take our word for it, as receiving the famous Red Dot Product Design award shows Peter Schreyer and his gang know what they are doing.
Both the all-new Genesis flagship sedan and the i10 city car have been the recipients of new accolades. The two were selected in the automobile category by a jury consisted of 37 experts from 24 countries, "all independent qualified designers, university professors or journalists". For the first year ever, the famous shoe designer Jimmy Choo was among them.

Hyundai doesn't say if the Malaysian-born designer actually liked the new Genesis, especially since he's not all that into cars. But there's nothing not to like about the latest Fluidic Sculpture cars.

Byung SeobLee, Senior Vice President at Hyundai Design Centre, commented: “The Red Dot award is widely recognised as one of the world’s most prestigious design awards and to receive two is a real honour. Distinctive design is helping us attract new customers and develop strong connections with them. It is also the ultimate expression of what Hyundai offers – cars that are both good to drive and to look at. The All-New Genesis and New Generation i10 introduce ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0’, Hyundai Motor’s evolved design philosophy, which will be featured in all future Hyundai models.”

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
