Ram 1500 Tops Consumer Reports’ Full-Size Truck Rankings
Already a highly-acclaimed vehicle, the new Ram 1500 was ranked at the top of Consumer Reports’ tests of full-size pickup trucks with 78 points, outgunning two of its main segment rivals, the Toyota Tundra (69 points) and the iconic Ford F-150 (68 points).
Chrysler’s truck was, however, surpassed by the Chevrolet Avalanche by two points, but production of the GM-developed vehicle ends after the 2013 model year. On the other hand, Consumer Reports adds that testing of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is still underway, with results to be announced later this summer.
"The Ram 1500 is surprisingly luxurious and refined-but still fully capable of doing hard work when needed," said Jake Fisher, director of Consumer Reports' Auto Test Center in East Haddam, Connecticut. "Continued interior and powertrain improvements make the Ram a particularly well-rounded choice."
