CEO Reid Bigland announced that Ram Trucks intends to increase its sales volume by 34 percent or 160,000 units until the end of 2018. As for the extremely anticipated successor of the Ram Dakota pickup, that model isn't included in the brand's new five-year plan.
The biggest priorities for Ram in the following five years are the further consolidation of the brand and a minor expansion of its product portfolio. This year we've already seen the launch of the first light-duty diesel pickup in the United States in the form of the Ram 1500 3.0-liter EcoDiesel.

A minor update for the Light Duty pickup truck is slated for 2015, which will be followed by an all-new model in 2017. The Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles investor presentation also revealed that later this year, Ram will introduce two commercial vehicles: the ProMaster and ProMaster City. Outside North America, these models are badged as the Fiat Ducato and Doblo.

Last but not least, both the Heavy Duty and Chassis Cab will get a well-deserved refresh in 2016, with major updates programmed in the second half of 2018.

In other news, we remind you that 159 units of the 2014 Ram 1500 pickup truck are subjected to a recall operation. The affected vehicles need to be inspected and, if necessary, have their gearboxes replaced by an authorized dealership service as soon as possible.
