Rafael Nadal Treats Himself with an Aston Martin DBS

While Mr Bond is satisfied to drive an Audi S6 in reality, the Spanish professional tennis player Rafael Nadal enjoys driving an Aston Martin just like the one of the 007 agent.

Although the well-known tennis player is Kia's ambassador until 2011, this wasn't an obstruction for him to opt for a more exotic vehicle, luxvelocity.typepad.com has learned. Certainly, Mr Bond's car has almost everything a luxury motorist would want from a sports car.

The Aston Martin DBS is powered by a 6.0 liter V12 engine outputting over 510 bhp. The engine itself is based on the same one found in the race car the DBR9. The car can reach 100 km in just 4.3 seconds and has a top speed just under 200 mph as Aston Martin claims.

But since luxury sports cars aren't affordable for all mere mortals, the price for Mr Bond's car can go really high. Thus, Nadal had to pay about $269,000 to take it into his garage.

The tennis sensation has been a Kia ambassador since 2006. Nadal appeared in Kia's global advertising campaigns in TV and print media over the past years. He promoted the Kia brand by taking part in various initiatives held by the automaker, including major international motor shows. Their agreement was renewed in 2008 and it will last until 2011.

Rafael Nadal, aged 23, has won six Grand Slam singles titles and the 2008 Olympic gold medal in singles. He has captured the last four French Open singles titles, joining Björn Borg in 2008 as the only men to have won four consecutive singles titles there. In 2008, Nadal became the second Spanish man to win Wimbledon while only one year later, he became the first Spaniard to win the Australian Open.
