The Autosport International 2010 Show in Birmingham, not exactly the equivalent of the 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), would have passed virtually unnoticed by the automotive world if it weren't for the Radical SRZero electric supercar, a vehicle built by Radical with the help of Imperial College London's Racing Green Endurance team.

The impressive green machine provides supercar-like performance figures: a top speed of 190 km/h with capability to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds. Unfortunately, not many details about what lies underneath the body of the SRZero have been released, apart from the fact that the motors for the car have been supplied by EVO Electric.

"Motorsports and luxury boating are a great way of demonstrating the capabilities of EVO technology", David Latimer, EVO Electric CEO said. "Many technologies are first implemented in motorsports and other niches before migrating to the larger but more cost-sensitive mainstream vehicle market segments."

"We believe the same will happen with hybrid and electric vehicle technologies including EVO's advanced electric motors and generators, which are also being implemented in other near-term applications such as commercial and military vehicles."

The SRZero will be an active presence on the automotive scene this year, as it will be featured in a number of events. The first one worth mentioning will also be SRZero's biggest test, as it will take on the 26,000km (16,000 mile) endurance trip from Argentina to Alaska later this year.
