It's been only a year and a bit since Qoros launched its first model – the 3 Sedan. A few months after than, ex-MINI designer Gert Hildebrand penned the 3 Hatch and now here we are, in the presence of the Qoros 3 City SUV 1.6T compact urban crossover.
Qoros Auto may've been founded in Wuhu, China 7 years ago, yet the Chinese-Israeli manufacturing company is on the offensive with pretty good products if you throw your brand snobbery pants aside. The 3 Hatch is something like a VW Golf with the materials and fit & finish of a Seat Leon, which is very high praise for a family-oriented car made in the Far East.
From the looks of it, the all-new Qoros 3 City SUV doesn't disappoint either. The crossover sibling of the 3 lineup is your typical compact urban crossover, scheduled to go on sale in China before the end of December 2014 with prices starting from RMB 140,000.
On the NEDC cycle, fuel economy is amongst the best in the compact segment, the City SUV achieving 6.8 l/100km (34.5 US mpg) with the manual and 6.9 l/100km (34 US mpg) with the six-speed automatic.
Compared to the 3 Hatch, the City SUV gets a wider track, longer wheelbase and a bit higher ground clearance. As for suspension goodies, the crossover SUV features MacPherson struts at the front and an OMEGA-shaped twist beam at the rear for a good compromise between fair handling and a compliant ride.
At launch, the brand new Qoros 3 City SUV 1.6T will offer customers a choice of four trim specifications – Active, Style, Style Plus and Excite. You can find out what those pack from the release attached below.

That's the equivalent of $22,850, €18,439 or £14,590 according to current exchange rates...
...and that isn't half bad for a C-segment vehicle that comes packed with stuff from the get-go. Speaking of which, a 1.6-liter turbo four-pot is under the bonnet, sending 156 ponies and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox or a dual-clutch automatic transmission. On the NEDC cycle, fuel economy is amongst the best in the compact segment, the City SUV achieving 6.8 l/100km (34.5 US mpg) with the manual and 6.9 l/100km (34 US mpg) with the six-speed automatic.
