Have you ever heard of a car company called Elibriea Automotive? Neither have we... until now. What you’re admiring here is Qatar’s first sports car manufacturer, a company “tailored for high-end customer needs,” according to its website. But something is very wrong with this quote.
To be utterly frank, we can’t get our head around the fact that all Elibriea has to offer at the present moment are the renderings in the gallery below and a non-functional concept presented at the Qatar Motor Show on January 28. But then again, we hope that the Elibriea Equvallas will make it into production because its design is simply amazing, like a child's idea of what a modern Lamborghini should look like.
The company is so confident in its mission to make the Equvallas happen that pre-orders will begin in March 2016 and first deliveries will start by December. That’s a tall order for a small outfit that indents to use carbon fiber for the body panels, monocoque, and core bits and pieces of the drivetrain. Preliminary specs include an 800 horsepower naturally-aspirated mill mounted in the middle of the Arabian machine.
Other noteworthy details include an “engine bay dynamic vent,” a 6-speed sequential transmission, rear-wheel drive, and “distinct Elibriea doors,” whatever that means. Local media reports claim that the engine in question is a General Motors-sourced V8 with 525 HP on tap. This info got us confused considering that Elibriea promised 800 HP on its website, not 525 horsepower from a Chevrolet Performance crate motor.
All in all, there’s a lot of mystery and uncertainty surrounding the first-ever sports car to be produced in Qatar. But from the bottom of our V8-shaped hearts, we sure wish for Elibriea to make the Equvallas happen for one simple reason: because we can’t get enough of that Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk stealth aircraft-inspired design.
