Production Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet Coming
Thankfully, three’s an equally German alternative on the road, and it’s called the the Golf GTI Cabrio. It comes with a bigger two-liter engine and is less... posh. Thankfully though, there might be an alternative for the people who think 210 horsepower isn’t enough.
A Chinese website has uncovered copyright patents for a production version of the Golf R Concept that was shown at last year’s Wothersee GTI meet in Austria, the one we’re showing you. These patent images basically all but confirm a production version is coming, since there is no other reason to protect the car’s basic shape in China.
The Golf R Cabriolet should make use of a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine and all-wheel drive. The standard sprint should be dealt with in about 6 seconds, which is amazing considering the lack of a roof. Lookf or a production model to debut this year, seeing as the Golf Mk7 is just around the corner.
