Production Version of Renault Alpine A110-50 Concept to Cost €50,000

Renault’s Alpine A110-50 concept definitely turned a few heads this year at Goodwood, where it was driver rather vigorously up the famous hill. Also, the reaction people have to it seems to be a very positive one, augmented by their excitement to the prospect of a properly sporty Renault with rear-wheel drive.

Now, Renault’s CEO, Carlos Tavares said “I’m determined to relaunch the Alpine brand [. . .] The first car will be a 21st century interpretation of the A110 Berlinette – it will cost around 50,000 euros. That’s the direction we’re heading in. After that we can do anything we like.” Aside from this, though, Renault are also planning the launch of its very own luxury sub-brand, so their lineup and appeal should grow considerably in diversity, in the coming years.

Also, according to autoexpress.co.uk, Tavares also mentioned the need to partner up with another automaker to make the dream of relaunching the Alpine brand a reality, and regarding this subject he only said “A deal exists and it’s progressing [. . .] We’ll make a decision on the car by the end of 2012 and it’ll take three to five years from then.”

While the name of the partner is unclear, we suspect it’s either Nissan or Mercedes-Benz, with the latter being the more plausible of the two, despite the fact that Nissan makes some excellent rear-wheel-driven platforms, as well as the GT-R, so their expertise in the realm of sports cars is always welcome.
