Porsche Uses New Efficient Logistics System
The new project uses complete planing procedures that incorporate all the parts suppliers. As a result of the efficiency program, the parts for the Panamera and Cayenne are to reach the production site just one hour before they enter the production line. This eliminates the need for large storage areas and thus reduces production costs.
A bespoke software developed by SAP sits at the core of the system - this controls the entire supply chain, starting from the commissioning process, moving to the ordering phase and finally reaching the temporary storage space management.

Porsche has just introduced a new generation of the Cayenne SUV and the company has high expectations from its best-selling model. The new Cayenne’s engine range includes two petrol versions, a diesel one and a hybrid powertrain. The entry level gasoline model is powered by a 3.6 liter V6 unit developing 300 HP and 400 Nm of torque. The next petrol model (which sits at the top of the range) is a biturbo V8 engine that offers 500 Hp and 700 Nm of torque. The diesel is a 3.0 liter v6 unit that delivers 240 HP and 550 Nm of torque. The hybrid powertrain uses a supercharged 3.0 liter V6 gasoline engine in conjunction with a 47 HP electric motor and offers a total torque figure of 580 Nm.
