Porsche Unveils Two New... Bicycles
text size: A- A+
Porsche says the two urban bicycles they released offer both high performance with ride-anywhere capability. That sounds a bit like an SUV, and this makes us curious as to what they’re like.
The Porsche Bike S features a 7005 Hydroformed Aluminium frame, carbon fibre front forks and an internally-geared Shimano 11-speed Alfine hub gear system, a double-clutch system for smooth gear-shifting under heavy pedal loads.
It rolls along on DT Swiss wheels with smooth rolling resistance tyres. The bike was designed for either long-distance cycle tour or city-based commute to work. The bad news is that it costs as much as a second hand car: £2,999.
Meanwhile, the Porsche Bike RS is lighter and features a newly-developed, carbon fibre monococque frame. It also has 20-speed Shimano XTR derailleur gearset and Magura hydraulic disc-brakes and Crank Brothers wheels. As for the price, well, there’s no sugarcoating it: £4,999.
