The rumors came true, and porsche now has a sporty Cayenne powered by diesel to rival even the X5 M50d. It’s called the Cayenne S Diesel (obviously), and the headline grabber under the bonnet is a twin-turbo 4.2-liter oil-burner with twin turbos that produces 382 hp and a whopping 850 Nm of torque (626 lb-ft).
That makes it 142 hp more meaty than the regular Cayenne Diesel. It’s also more powerful than the Touareg 4.2 TDI, whch has 340 hp and 800 Nm of torque (590 lb-ft).

As a result of all this power, the Cayenne S Diesel will get you from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 157 mph (253 km/h).

Porsche boasts that the Cayenne S Diesel is the world’s only V8 diesel SUV with start/stop, and that it offers a combined fuel consumption of 8.2l/100km (equal to 34mpg UK and 28.3mpg US). On a full tank, it’s also supposed to drive for 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) without the need to refuel.

Standard equipment includes Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive, leather interior, dual-zone automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, audio system with seven-inch touch-screen, eight-way powered front seat adjustment, front and rear electric windows, 18” alloy wheels, a 100-litre fuel tank and a three-year warranty.
