Porsche Remembers the 914-6 GT [Video]
Sold in almost 119,000 examples by 1976, the 914 also spawned the 914-6 GT, a race car that was produced in only 3,360 units (the regular model sold almost 119,000 examples). All of them were powered by 2.0-liter flat-six units, but some of them were raced using different configurations. In 1970, a factory-backed 914-6 GT finished 6th overall and won its class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Although far from being as popular as the 911, the 914-6 GT won its place in Porsche’s racing hall of fame and is still remember after more than 40 years since its production ceased. Earlier this week, the Stuttgart-based automaker revisited the short 914-6 GT chapter by releasing a video with the vehicle that was owned and raced by Ernst Seiler a.k.a. “The Hunter”.
