Fast wagons are very popular in Europe, but Porsche didn't offer one because it overlapped with the Cayenne and there was no demand from China and the US. However, our spy photographers from Germany have just sent us the most exciting images of 2016: the Porsche Panamera Shooting Brake. It exists, eureka!
It's got the front end of the all-new Panamera, but the back stands tall and proud, like that of the Sport Turismo concept from four years ago. And that brings a critical problem: we don't know what they will call it. "Shooting Brake" sounds so British, so Jaguar.

Since the big-trunked version of the Panamera started testing so late, we suspect that it will arrive at least 6 months after the regular 4-door. Is it worth the wait? Well, people rarely stack boxes to the roof, but a unique look is something many Porshe customers are after.

Stylistically, the production version of the Sport Turismo concept has kept the same long roof and well defined C-pillar. It could also handle differently. Cars like the C63 AMG Wagon and SEAT Leon ST Cupra have proven carrying more weight over the rear axle can result in fun handling characteristics.

The full might of Porsche's engineering prowess will come down on the Panamera, resulting in a faster, lighter and more efficient product.

Audi and Porsche have already partnered on the development of all-new V6 and V8 engines. According to a recent report, the engines will be based around a standard 90-degree architecture with a unique 500cc individual cylinder capacity, meaning the V6 units will be 3.0L and the V8 ones will be 4.0L.

This partnership could result in a turbocharged S E-Hybrid and a powerful twin-turbo 4.0-liter diesel (borrowed from SQ7).

The interior of the sedan will mostly carry over to the wagon. A few days ago, we showed you a video of the interior of one the Panamera prototypes patrolling Germany. It featured a gigantic infotainment screen, digital dash, and de-cluttered center console.

Competition? There's not a lot, as Mercedes will soon drop out of making Shooting Brake models (in 2018) while BMW and Audi's models just don't have the cool factor.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
