Porsche-Developed Platform to Underpin Next Panamera and All Future Bentleys

Since both Porsche and Bentley are owned by VW, and both now make similar luxury sedans, it was only a matter of time before the higher-ups in the company would decide to cut costs and have both the Porsche Panamera, as well as other Bentley sedans underpinned by the same chassis.

The MSB platform, which will be developed by Porsche (at least that’s reassuring news), will underpin all future Bentley models, and it will be perfectly adaptable for both four- and two-wheel drive. The new platform will also help Bentley’s future offerings to keep the weight down, thus improving everything about the car.

Also, to go along with the new platform, Bentley is reportedly dropping its traditional six-and-three-quarter-liter L-series V8, in favour of a much more modern twelve-cylinder unit which will comply with the future Euro 6 emissions regulations. The last car to be powered by the V8 will probably be the upcoming Bentley Mulsanne Convertible.
