Porsche Cayman GT4 Owner Builds "GT4 RS", Hits the Nurburgring

Truth be told, certain people simply aren't ready to live with the obvious limitations destined to prevent the Cayman GT4 from entering Neunelfer territory too deep.

Case in point with the owner of the mid-engined Zuffenhausen machine in the video below. The wanted to build his own GT4 RS, so he turned to tuning the GT4 in his garage.

It all started in the middle of the car, where the 3.8-liter was gifted with a titanium exhaust, which allowed the heart of this Porsche to reach its full potential, namely the 400 hp it delivers on the 991 Carrera S.

And the weight reduction achieved thanks to the use of titanium for the exhaust is just a part of the diet this Cayman has been subjected to. Sure, helping a GT4 lose weight isn't easy. But, according to Stateside Super Cars, the Youtube channel that uploaded the footage below, the owner managed to shed up to 90 lbs (40 kg) by turning to elements such as featherweight bucket seats.

Speaking of the clip at the bottom of the page, this shows the "GT RS" being used as both Porsche and its owner intend it to, namely flying from one vibrator to another on the Nurburgring. The beefier soundtrack is on the house.

Those of you who think taking a Cayman GT4 down the tuning route is too much should know Manthey Racing has recently pulled a similar move. The resulting mid-engined Porsche managed to lap the Nordschleife in 7:29, beating the new turbocharged Porsche 911 Carrera S' time. And things become even spicier if we factor in that Manthey happens to be owned by Porsche.
