The Porsche 911 may have kept its silhouette largely untouched for over five decades now, but the serious tech changes that take place underneath the skin can easily make owners of older models feel left behind. Fortunately, the Neunelfer is one of the aftermarket industry's favorite children, so there are plenty of ways to keep your up to speed. Literally.
Let's take the 997-generation Turbo in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, for instance. Despite the supercar still delivering impressive performance by contemporary standards, this is obviously no match for the 991 Turbo S. Heck, the engine position change and transmission advances alone are enough to bring a respectable gap between the two.

And if we consider the fact that the 991.2 Turbo S has recently proven it can beat the 918 Spyder and the LaFerrari in a series of acceleration tests held by Motor Trend, the 997 Turbo seems to have even more trouble keeping up.

Well, while having the same maximum power figure as a 991.2 model isn't everything, it's a brilliant place to start making up for the generation gap. And this is precisely what the 997 Turbo we have here has gained: 580 ponies.

The rear-engined supercar was massaged by Armytrix, receiving a custom exhaust and an ECU remap. Apparently, the motorsport-grade wing was on the house and so was the can't-be-ignored wrap. Even so, we have a feeling that many aficionados would've preferred the clean factory lines of the Turbo to the attention-grabbing look seen here.

The Taiwan-based aftermarket developer went for a wild exhaust setup, one involving a decatted approach. So this Neunelfer now sounds like a twin-turbo tornado and spits fire as if it was a Zuffenhausen dragon.

We're inviting you to check out the extra aggression gained by the car in the piece of footage below - since this is a dyno video, you should turn up the volume in order to fully sample the newfound voice of the Turbo.
