Porsche was recently spotted testing its all-new 911 GT3 RS around the Nürburgring, and while that car was still cloaked in camouflage, the U.K. patent office has just given us our best look yet at the ultimate track-ready 911. These leaked patent images of the 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS reveal the extensive changes that were made to the 991 911 in the name of improved aerodynamics and performance.
Car Magazine stumbled across images of the new GT3 RS, and it is instantly clear that with the possible exception being the front doors, this car is completely unique from any 911 model currently on the road. Some of the biggest changes include the wider track with the vented front fenders for better air flow, but the GT3 RS will also get distinct front and rear fascias helping to set it apart from the GT3.

Another key styling change is the obvious double-bubble roofline designed to offer more headroom for occupants wearing racing helmets. Perhaps only as a styling feature, the crease in the roof in mimicked on the hood, which helps to add an even more unique styling element to the GT3 RS. Of course, it’s hard not to notice that massive rear wing affixed to the rear of the car, as well as the fact that the 911’s rear seats have been replaced with a roll cage.

Despite the fact that the GT3 RS will use rear fenders similar to the 911 Turbo, it reportedly will use a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six tuned to produce somewhere around 475 hp and 500 hp. Sending that power to the road will be Porsche’s seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, and for better handling, it will utilize an electronic four-wheel steering system powered by a lightweight lithium-ion battery.

Expect many other weight-reducing measures to be used on the GT3 RS including a titanium exhaust system. There is still no word as to when the next GT3 RS will be ready for production, but these patent drawings suggest we could see it debut sooner rather than later.
