When you findyourself throwing a Porsche 911 GT3 RS around the track, you shouldn't be worried about a Pontiac GTO (the new-age one), especially if the Aussie-brewed big coup is stock. But what if the driver of the muscle car happens to be able to stick around?
This is precisely what happens in the clip at the bottom of the page, which Redditor brolix, the guy behind the wheel of the GTO, sharing plenty of details about the unofficial battle.
The two coupes got to play over the past weekend, with the hooning having takes place on the Texas World Speedway.
After quickly letting us know his GTO only packs Camaro SS brake lines and heftier brake pads that sustain the man's track pleasures, he goes on to drop some attention-worthy details about the Rennsport Neunelfer.
It seems the 997 is owned by a couple who uses the Porscha as a track toy. The man is an instructor, one who can take the 911 round the track in 1:50, while the woman, which happens to be in the driver's seat during the action seen here, is "just fast".
For the record, the laps seen here take place at a 2:10 pace, with the pair of 400 hp machines spending quite a lot of time together.
When another Redditor mentions the strange manner in which the 3,800 lbs Pontiac seems to catch up with the 3,100 lbs Zuffenhausen machine under braking, the driver of the GTO provides a detailed explanation.
"They were sharing the car and had a group running in between them, so it was mostly cooled down, but I'd accept if it was struggling as a result of that. She used to run in the top run group, but for some reason or another stopped for a while, and now that she's back she's in the 2nd group with me," the man says.
As it turns out, running the GT3 RS on the track is a full-family affair, one we can only applaud: "I can't provide any proof of her [the 911 driver] talent one way or another, other than the video above, and the fact that her husband and daughter are both very quick as well,"
Oh, and in case you're wondering, the microphone was placed right next to one of the exhaust tips, while the camera... well, that might've just been hidden in the air intake.
