Polaris continues to have problems with its recreational vehicles. One of its latest recalls in the United Kingdom is addressing three separate issues on the recently manufactured Slingshots.
The company recently issued a recall aiming 14 model year 2016-2017 UK-sold Slingshot three-wheelers, and, although, it is a small number, each of these units may be affected by up to three defects involving the brakes, the suspension, and even a fire hazard.

We start with the brake failure first, and in this case, it is possible during production that the brake pressure switch (brake light switch) may have been over-torqued. This could result in a loss of brake fluid and subsequent reduction in braking power.

Next comes the suspension, where it has been identified that the swinging arm may not have been manufactured to the correct specification. This affects its strength and could cause it to fail, rendering the directional control of the machine ineffective.

Finally, a problem we all knew about from before, the units might be affected by a fire risk. Polaris informs that it is possible during production that the fuel lines may have been placed too close to the hood.

This leaves insufficient clearance between the two and vibrations might damage the lines. In severe cases, this could lead to a fuel leak which could ignite if it sprinkles on hot engine components.

The company is working on developing comprehensive repair procedures for the safety bulletins issued. Once complete, the repair instructions will be sent to Polaris dealerships where you can take your Slingshot and fix it for free.

Of course, the UK Polaris recall is part of a larger scale operation after multiple incidents involving its machines happened in other regions. One of them involved a similar Slingshot that suddenly ignited on the highway in California earlier this year.
