Peugeot Wants 208 GTI to Be "Best in Class"
However, it seem like the French automotive producer is preparing to do just that, with the 208 GTI being the name of the new game. The company introduced the concept vehicle at this year’s Geneva Motor Show and it has recently told autocar that this won’t be produced unless it can outperform its rivals.
We have to explain that this is an extremely difficult, as we’re talking about cars like the Renault Clio RS, the Mini JCW and the fresh Ford Fiesta ST.
However, the carmaker seems confident that it can achieve this goal, planning to offer a vehicle that mixes performance with premium features. All we know so far is that the engine will develop up to 200 hp and that the company wants the handling to be exquisite.

Renault and the rest is so far ahead, Peugeot wont be able to even catch up, let alone exceed them all and be 'best in class'.
Peugeot is day dreaming and I suspect is more keen to generate sales from this latest 'GTi' by continuing to exploit the market sentiments towards the 205GTi.
Its a pity that we practically had to begged them to do what they should be doing and failed to do so for the last 15 odd years ie produce excellent hot hatches.
Just look back at what they promised the 207GTi would be. Same promises were made back then as it is made now. Its just a marketing gimmick. RIP 205GTi.
