Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4, RCZ HYbrid4 Revealed

Peugeot will be quite busy at the Frankfurt Auto Show as the French manufacturer will showcase several new models at the event, including the RCZ coupe we told you about earlier today. But two major releases will be the 3008 HYbrid4 and the RCZ HYbrid4, two hybrid models that will replace the regular petrol units seen on many hybrids out there with turbo diesel powerplants.

Specifically, the 3008 HYbrid4 will incorporate a 2.0-liter HDI PEF engine producing 163 bhp (120 kW) at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1,580 rpm. The electric unit brings an extra 37 bhp, thus raising the overall output to 200 bhp (147 kW). The engines are mated to a 6-speed electronically controlled manual gearbox which allows the 3008 to reach sixty in 8.8 seconds and top at 209 km/h (130 mph).

As for fuel consumption, this model boasts a 60 liter fuel tank, with figures going as high as 3.8 liters per 100 km (61.9 mpg) in combined cycle. It releases 99 grams of CO2 every kilometer and is capable of running in electric mode for 4.5 kilometers thanks to its advanced high-voltage nickel metal hydride battery.

The RCZ HYbrid4 will feature the same powertrain as the 3008 HYbrid4 but fuel consumption and performance figures are slightly different. The car goes from 0 to sixty in 8.5 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 215 km/h (133.5 mph). It burns up to 3.7 liters of gasoline per kilometer (63.5 mpg) in combined cycle.

The production version of the 3008 HYbrid4 is projected to go on sale in 2010. The RCZ HYbrid4 will remain a concept for the time being as there are no plans for a production model of the car.
