Peugeot 3008 Heavy-camoed Test Mule Spied Again, the Crossover Might Debut in Geneva

Little is known about the upcoming Peugeot 3008, but as long as our carparazzi are providing spyshots with the crossover during testing sessions, one thing's for sure: French engineers are working to fine-tune the crossover.

When it hit the market, the Peugeot 3008 was received with raised eyebrows for several reasons - one of them being its exterior design. However, Peugeot seems keen on moving forward with the crossover as a new-gen 3008 is currently in the making.

We too were bothered by the question "is the Peugeot 3008 a crossover or an MPV?", but from what we can see in the pictures, the Sochaux-based carmaker decided to stick to one side and continue with it.

So the 3008 test mule you'll be able to examine in the photo gallery is shaped and sized like a crossover, at least from where we're standing. The hood is longer while the wheel arches look like they've been visiting the gym lately while the slightly-sloping roofline reinforces the crossover look of the test mule.

In theory, that might be good news in terms of sales prospects, as Europeans seem to have a fixation on crossovers lately, but it also means the new 3008 will have to face stiff competition in a segment that is quickly becoming saturated with models of all shapes and colors.

We can't tell you much about powertrain choices at the moment, but we expect Peugeot to fit the upcoming 3008 crossover with three- and four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines as a starting grid. Also, we expect a plug-in hybrid variant to be summoned at a later date.

Resources will be sent to the ground via the standard front-wheel drive setup, but for bigger engines Peugeot will offer a four-wheel drive system for better resource management on the asphalt.

We expect the new 3008 to take a bow next year at the Geneva Motor Show, or the latest, at the Paris International Motor Show.
