Pedrosa Fumes at De Angelis for Lack of Respect
De Angelis did not want to let go his 7th place and desperately tried to defend his position. After he was passed by the Repsol Honda rider, De Angelis “came into him” entering the corner and nearly touched his bike. Pedrosa managed to keep his Honda on track – with great difficulty, however – but he lost several positions in the race afterwards.
The Spanish rider eventually finished the Qatar Grand Prix in 11th place and had some harsh words to address De Angelis at the finish line.
“After eight or nine laps at the front I started to have some vibration, and I don’t know why that was. Finally I started to lose a lot of grip, and when De Angelis touched me I began to have pain in my shoulder. It’s probably nothing, but I will get it checked out anyway. He came straight into me, I was in front and he came into me to close me down. (He showed…) no respect, but life will return the favor to him,” said a disappointed Pedrosa after the race.
Although investigated by the race stewards for the aforementioned incident, the San Marino rider insisted his move was legitimate.
“I was called up to Race Direction to put forward my version of the collision with Dani but there was no complaint against me so it wasn’t a big deal,” said De Angelis.
