Paris 2012: Toyota Verso

Toyota have just taken the wraps off their all-new Verso, at the Paris Motor Show. The seven-seater gets the new family face, as well as a stylish and understated approach to its design, while unquestionably remaining a Toyota. One of its main party tricks is the brand’s Easy Flat-7 seating system, which allows for a total of 32 possible seating combinations.

Both the second and third row of seats can be moved forward or back, as they all feature 192 mm sliding rails, to maximize the use of interior space. Engines-wise, it gets Toyota’s 2.0-liter D-4D engine, which has been recently revised, and thus its emissions have fallen by 10 g/km, below 130 g/km. The other diesel in the range is a 175 hp 2.2-liter unit, which emits a very competent 159 g/km of CO2.

For petrol engine fans, Toyota is offering either a 1.6-liter unit, or a 1.8-liter unit, with the larger engine being available with an optional Multidrive CVT gearbox. The car now sits alongside the new Auris, Auris Touring Sports and the new Yaris in the ‘updated part’ of the Toyota range.
