Skoda’s new Rapid, a compact sedan destined for sale mainly in Europe has been officially unveiled in Paris, and as the main picture suggests, journalists just can’t get enough of it. Its shape is that of a classic sedan, with some bold creases and sharp lines, it looks good, if a bit bland and common.
It is the sister car of the Seat Toledo, a move by the VW group to sell more of the same cars to different people, with different brand affinities. It measures 4.48 meters in length and 1.7 meters in width, making it ideal for both city driving and the occasional cross-country trip. With very wide range of excellent VW-sourced engines, as well as an extremely good reliability record, the Rapid will undoubtedly be the choice for many small families all across the Old Continent.

According to the Skoda CEO, Winfired Vahland, “This is a model which sets benchmarks in the compact saloon segment: The Skoda Rapid is a roomy, elegant and at the same time an affordable car for the whole family, impressing with clever solutions, cutting-edge technology and high economy. In short, it is a car permitting mobility in a comfortable, reasonably priced and environmentally friendly package. The right car at the right time,”
